Current WEVH projects
Manchester Women's Network
|
|
Since September 2004, WEVH has hosted Manchester Women's
Network (MWN),
which is one of the sub-networks of the Community Network
for
Manchester (CN4M). From
its office at Ada House, MWN administers a database of over
200 Manchester-based women's organisations and promotes information
sharing between groups as well as involvement in the wider
CN4M. The team organises bi-monthly networking meetings and
regular newsletters and, through the GEM Project, is involved
in research, training and lobbying on gender issues within
the community, voluntary and statutory sectors.

Measures of Success
|
|
WEVH has been awarded funding to start a research project
which will also mean they can continue to offer direct business
support to women in business.
The aim of the research project is to gain a greater understanding
of the discrimination women entrepreneurs, in particular through
the ways public and private agencies use male normative models
of success when making decisions on the allocation of financial
and other resources. As such it is addressing a specific equality
issue. Any female businesses interested in taking part please
contact us.

UK Online
|
|
Our drop in suite, funded by New Opportunities Fund as part
of the UK Online programme, offers drop in PC and Mac access.
Many women, both beginners and experienced users, use the
drop in to take advantage of free broadband Internet access
and a wide range of creative and office software and to learn
in a supportive pleasant environment.
The suite houses Learndirect, offering online courses on every
subject from self-development to computer and office skills,
delivered through a contract with the City Pride Hub ad funded
by the Learning and Skills Council. The suite is also the
venue for focussed taster sessions, and provides extra practice
time for learners on taught courses.
