We are - the Manchester Women's Electronic Village Hall, or WEVH
Originally set up in 1992 we are based in city centre Manchester,
providing ICT and Multimedia training and facilities for women in
the Greater Manchester area.
The
WEVH is unique because we specialise in how Information and Communications
Technology relates particularly to women. Whether you are employed
are not, are looking to learn new skills, or want to get established
in business, we have services to help you develop.
We are committed to providing access to training and resources
for all women. Our approach to training has come out of our experience
of delivering courses in the community.
All courses are designed to meet the needs of women. Flexible training
programmes are organised around school hours and holidays with support
for childcare. Distance learning courses are also being researched
for the future. As part of their training all trainees are offered
personal development, counseling and career guidance.
In response to user demand, rapid developments in technology and
new market requirements, we are constantly revising our training
to remain up-to-date. The success of the Women's EVH trainees pays
tribute to the unique approach we take.
One
of the key benefits for trainees of learning these new technologies
is the speed and simplicity of global communications for a low cost.
In the wider world, the Women's EVH has provided a focus for international
networking among women's groups world-wide in particular within
the European Union and in Eastern Europe.
Organisation Structure
The Women's EVH is a registered charity as well as a company limited
by guarantee and operates on a not-for-profit basis. We are guided
by a voluntary Management Committee, which is made up of professional
women drawn from the local area. Day-to-day running of the Women's
EVH is carried out by a team of ten paid staff as well as additional
training staff.
