| The Network | All computers are networked together, using a Microsoft Windows 2000 network.You can access any of the other computers in the room via Network Neighborhood - there are no passwords. |
| Saving Work | Students' work should be saved in the "trainee" directory on the X: drive, alternatively in "my documents" on each individual computer. Please remove your data when you've finished with it - the technician will be clearing out the directories at the end of each term. |
| Scanner | Epson Perfection 1240u - attached to pc10. Switch it on before turning on the computer. Log in following the instructions on top of the scanner. There are attachments for scanning negatives and slides on the workstation. |
| Electronic Whiteboard | Attached to pc3. The whiteboard can be used just to project on to, or as an electronic whiteboard using the Boardmate program on the desktop, together with the electronic pen - see Cath Booth or technician for the pen. NOTE: please do not write on the board with any type of marker. |
| CD Re-writers | All the computers have rewriteable CD drives. |
| Laser Printer | HP Laserjet 5000 - attached to pc8. Prints A4 & A3. The on/off switch is along the right hand side. To cancel the current job, press the Cancel button on the top. Paper is obtainable from the main office. The paper tray is at the bottom - pull firmly and put the paper under the blue holders. |
| Colour Printer | HP Deskjet 840C inkjet printer - attached to pc9. |
| Zip Drive | Not yet available. |
| General |
Only the technician is allowed to install software, for security and technical reasons. |
| Faults | Any technical problems can be reported to the technician by filling in the fault log on the main screen of any computer. Or during working hours on Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri, the technician can be contacted on extension 4144. |
