This
installation is my document of the British-Chinese community. Over a period
of one month, I visited 195 Chinese restaurants and takeaways in central Manchester.
The collection of woks represents the Chinese population, which has established
its tradition of existing in Britain. During this period, I have collected
103 woks. Each wok that was donated represents a family, group or pocket of
the Chinese community. Yet, this exchange was often met with statements reflecting
their reason of not donating. This
may include fear of bad luck, superstition or not understanding the project.
