Supporting
Women in the Voluntary Sector to Make Better Use of Information
Technology
The
Women's Information Community Outreach Project at the WEVH (Women's
Electronic Village Hall) is a lottery funded project (funded until
October 2002) designed help women in voluntary and community organisations
to be more efficient and effective through better use of ICTs (Information
and Communications Technology). This is done by providing a range
of flexible and tailor made services for community groups including,
consultancy, training, drop-in access and on-line resources/information
and networks. For further information about what we offer and how
this works visit Services and Projects.
Providing
high quality volunteer placements and projects for women wanting
to develop their IT Skills
The
majority of the services are developed and delivered by a highly
skilled volunteer workforce. The project places a great deal of
emphasis on supporting women to, apply their IT knowledge in real
world situations and develop communication and problem solving skills.
This is done through developing effective support and training for
volunteers. To find out more about the volunteering side of the
project and our approach to volunteers see Good
Practice and Volunteering Opportunities.
